Zootopia tells the story of Officer Judy Hopps, a bunny from a small town who has overcome the odds and earned herself the title of being the first rabbit officer in the metropolitan city of Zootopia. In a city where predator and prey can live side by side in harmony, Hopps must overcome the intimidation and stereotyping of others and work to earn her rightful position in the force. Along the way she meets con artist Nice Wilde, supposedly the stereotypical sly fox, who will help her on the case that will not only prove herself to her doubting coworkers and family, but to herself.
Although this is a movie was created for  a younger audience, it makes references to other crime film plots such as those in Chinatown and The Godfather. The breathtaking 3D animation gives us eagle eyed views of the beautiful landscape and makes the characters look irresistibly cute. The movie tackles the not-so-typical topics of predjudice and stereotyping which are not common lessons in the younger genres. The concept of fighting for equality in everyday life is an aspiring one and is definitely something parents and children could absorb. It also features a catchy song by singer Shakira, whose character is a pop star gazelle.
Zootopia is not only a family friendly movie but an interesting film for all ages. In an age full of gender and racial disputes, the idea of working towards equality all while trying to solve a  colorful mystery is both a learning experience and a good show.
