On February 11 and 12, 2022 the Monarchs went to the 5B Regional Track Championship. It was truly worth watching. The competition was intense, and they were not willing to go down without a fight. As always the Monarchs fought their way to the top.

The Menchville Monarchs competed in 9 events distributed amongst 20 Menchville track team members for both boys and girls varsity, for a grand total of 18 events between Friday, February 11, 2022, and Saturday, February 12. Before competing the Monarchs kept a positive attitude about the meet, and hoped for success.

Senior sprinter Taylor Wilson became a 2x regional champion Saturday for the 300m dash, which she ran in 41.79, and for the 500m dash in 1:20.75. In both events, she got 1st place in qualifying her for states. Shot Putter Josiah Graham, Class of 2022, took 3rd place in regionals also qualifying him for States on February 25.. Clayton Wise, Class of 2025, received 4th place runner up in Shot Put.

Even though some of the athletes did not make it to the State level they were still grateful for the opportunity to complete. The Monarchs say they will use this experience as a lesson learned to come back better next season and do better than ever. On February 25th and 26th, the VHSL Class 5 State championship will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach.
