The Monarchs are one of four schools in Virginia being awarded a prize.

While last years campaign involved projects driven primarily by individual homerooms; this years program focused on getting students and staff involved in collective projects such as the Backpack Program, Stop Hunger Now Program, Outdoor Garden, Bowl Project, and Menchville’s Got Talent.

“We did a lot more this year and were a lot more organized,” said sponsor and English teacher Allison Nuckols.

An assembly for involved students will be held within the next week, and a trip to the Food-Bank to present representative Donna Tighe with the monetary reward is also in the works.
