“It’s a little cold out here.” The sky was clear but the temperature was 38 degrees when Menchville students plunged into the ocean to raise money for the Special Olympics. Here students stand behind the 2017 Sand Sculpture.

“Both the water and the weather were really cold. After getting out of the water my body was so sore! It was definitely a fun experience getting to see a variety of people getting together to help a good cause,” said Senior Aline Expinoze of her 2017 Polar Plunge experience.

The Menchville SCA has participated in the Polar Plunge at Virginia Beach for over a decade.  This year’s team, led by Sponsor Ken Zoby, dipped into the frigid waters of the Atlantic to raise money for Special Olympics.  They raised $4,065 in donations.
