After his act of raking over Haiti and Jamaica, all eyes have been on Hurricane Matthew  in the Atlantic. Matthew’s original track had the storm set to slam into the East Coast, causing people from South Carolina to Hampton Roads to stock up for the anticipated hit. However, the main weather models used by meteorologists, GFS and Euro, have been changing every few hours. With such an uncertain track, citizens along the coast have been preparing for the worst, while hoping for the best. Sixty six counties in North Carolina have declared a state of emergency, prompting residents and tourists to evacuate.

The storm has also created an air of uncertainty for Menchvilles’ 2016 Homecoming Parade, Game, and Dance. However, as the track seems to be shifting east, Menchville administration has decided against canceling the scheduled events on Saturday.

“Hurricane Matthew was coming to blow away our homecoming, but we used our monarch powers to blow him away from Virginia instead,” said Pete Mercier, Menchvilles’ Activity Director.

Fortunately, as of Thursday morning Matthews’ track is predicted to take an eastern shift off of South Carolinas’ coast and is not forecasted to hit Hampton Roads or North Carolina.
