On Saturday April 16th, Menchville High Schools Governor’s Youth Development Academy (GYDA) Team along with sponsor Gigi Huck participated in the annual “Canstruction” event at Patrick Henry Mall.

After weeks of planning and a school-wide effort to raise money, the team donated more than 1,800 cans and was able to provide a check for $1,000 to the Peninsula Food-bank.

“The whole project went very well, we worked together as a team to make it happen,” said student participant Kaylie Manglicot.

This large contribution brought Menchville’s donation total to 6,594 cans and $1,000.
