Menchville’s robotics team, Triple Helix, competed in the CHS District – Northern Virginia Event in Haymarket, VA. the weekend of March 4 to March 6.  The competition proved successful for the team as they maintained their first seed rank throughout the entirety of qualification matches, and rose victorious during the eliminations. They fought strongly, only loosing one match out the twelve they participated in, and conquered the quarterfinals and semifinals matches.

The finals matches were a different story for Triple Helix and their robot, Genome Theta. After Triple Helix’s alliance won the first finals match, the opposing alliance changed its strategy and began to play defense, which certainly knocked down Triple Helix’s ego a few pegs. However, since the final matches are played using a two out of three match process, there was still one more match to play and the tension was high. After a vicious battle between the two top alliances, the final score showed up on screen and the teams went wild. A final score of 141-137 was extremely close, but favorable to Menchville’s Triple Helix.

This weekend (March 18 to March 20), Triple Helix will compete in the CHS District – Hampton Roads Event.
