Allison Scherner of the Menchville Forensics Team received 3rd place in  Original Oratory  at the  Conference 10 Forensics Tournament.  The competition was held at Hampton High School on Wednesday, February 3rd.

In the Original Oratory competition students are required to create their own speech in a certain time limit and perform it  in front of the judges. This was Scherner’s first time competing in a forensics competition and her speech was on persuading students to read more.”I was so unprepared for the win!” she exclaimed excitedly. “My competition was so spectacular and this was my first competition so I had already mentally told myself there’s no possible way I could win, but then it happened!”
Scherner will  be moving on to the regional competition.
