On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, The Menchville Band and Orchestra held their Winter concert, a showcase of Mnechville student’s musical talent. Both the orchestra and band performed well, you could feel the excitement of the musicians and the passions harbored by them, as well as the directors.

The Orchestra performed classic pieces such as Magnificat, MVT 1 &2, Henerot Halalu, and The Curse of Tutankhamen gracefully, as well as a more widely known song, Feliz Navidad. The director, Anna Moyer, clearly felt for the pieces and talent of her students, and this appreciation was clearly shared by the performers. I especially enjoyed the songs performed by the senior orchestra, I’ll Be Bach for Christmas and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. It was an excellent performance, the dedication and hard work put in by the members did not go unnoticed.

The same finesse applied to the band performance. They played Incantations, American Riversongs, A Fireside Christmas Winter Wonderland, Christmas Lullaby,  Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Sleigh Ride. What I found most enjoyable, however, was the student involvement throughout the performance. The last section was conducted by seasoned members of the band, and neither of them missed a beat. The performance felt involved, I definitely was amused by the impression of a horse done by a trumpet player during Sleigh Ride. I certainly believe these performers brought the Christmas spirit to Menchville!
