Upcoming 2019 Disney Movies

2019 is full of highly anticipated movie releases by Disney, such as the Avengers: End Game, and Star Wars: Ep IX. There are also going to be live-action remakes, such as Aladdin and The Lion King, coming out. 2018 was a great year for Disney in terms of box office sales, grossing over $7 billion, but 2016 remains the highest grossing year with $7.6 billion. 2019 may even break the record. Avengers: Infinity War grossed over $2 billion last year, which has led to predictions of Avengers: End Game also crossing the $2 billion mark. The Lion King and Frozen 2 are both expected to do incredibly well, with Frozen (the original) being the highest grossing animated film to date. 

  1. Dumbo (March 29):

This is a live-action remake of the 1941 movie, and it contains changes such the addition of new characters, including 2 young children who discover Jumbo Jr. can fly.

  1. Avengers: End Game (April 26):

This is going to be the “Avengers: Infinity War” sequel that everyone is waiting for. It will follow Iron Man, Captain America and Ant Man as they try to save the universe.

  1. Aladdin (May 24):

Another live-action remake of a Disney classic. The movie follows Aladdin who falls for princess Jasmine and he encounters a Genie, who is being played by Will Smith, that grants him three wishes.

  1. Toy Story 4 (June 21):

This Toy Story will introduce new characters like a talking fork and more. The movie will follow the toys as they encounter new friends who will join their new owner’s room.

  1. Spiderman: Far From Home (July 5):

Peter Parker and his friends are going to Europe for a summer vacation where Peter will encounter a new villain, Mysterio, after being recruited by Nick Fury.

  1. The Lion King (July 19):

This is a very anticipated live-action remake of the 1994 original, that will showcase Simba’s struggle to decide whether he should go back and become King or let his uncle Scar continue to threaten the pride.

  1. Frozen 2 (November 22):

This is the sequel to the hit 2013 movie. New songs will be showcased, but it is still unclear if the same voice actors from the first one will return.

  1. Star Wars: Episode IX (December 20):

This is third and final chapter in the sequel trilogy. This script was written by J.J. Abrams who also directed the ninth episode. J.J. Abrams had also previously directed “The Force Awakens.”   

Everyone will most likely find themselves at the theater at least once throughout 2019 for one of the listed films.
