Spring Sports Coach Reports: April 17

The Menchville spring sports teams had another successful afternoon Tuesday, April 17th, with multiple wins by our student athletes.

Girls Soccer: From Coach Zollicoffer

The Lady Monarchs, Menchville’s varsity girls soccer team, played Woodside High School on Tuesday, 4-17, defeating them 3-0. Goals were scored by Riley Self, Kaitlyn Casab, and Alexis Fabila- who also made an assist for the goal scored by Riley Self. Goal was kept by Maddy Vinson, who did not let Woodside score. Both girls and boys soccer will be playing Warwick at home on Friday evening.

Softball: From Coach Dragone

The varsity softball team defeated Woodside 6-1 yesterday, boosting their season record to 6-3. Sarah Johnson pitched 13 strikeouts and an RBI double. Helena Hickman and Jenna Harlow earned the team 2 hits each, and Stormi Nichols had 3 hits, 2 stolen bases, and 2 runs.

The JV softball also beat Woodside 24-12, and they remain undefeated for the season. The softball teams will play Denbigh High School on Thursday, April 19th.

Baseball: From Coach Forbes

Woodside High School went into yesterday’s game undefeated, but came out with their first loss to our Menchville varsity baseball team, who beat the school 7-6. The leading hitters from Menchville were Kody Abrisz, Philip Forbes, Brandon Rogers, and Dawson Guzik, and the game was pitched by Mac Avery. The winning run was scored by Dawson Guzik on a hit from Ahmaad Goldson in the 8th inning.

The JV baseball team also won yesterday, defeating Woodside 5-3.

Tennis:

The girls tennis team played Hampton yesterday, beating them 9-0, and continuing the team’s undefeated record for the season. Matches were won by Caletha Vick, Kayleigh Miller, Abigail Rose, Hannah Jahmarkt, Hannah Dahl, and Nicole Bell.
