October 7 was Senior Night for the Girl’s Varsity Field Hockey team.  The Lady Monarchs went up against the Norview Pilots at Menchville and were recognized during the halftime of the game in front of all their supporters; family, friends, teammates, and teachers.

Senior Co-captain, Danielle Coon, said  she is in fact sad and broken-hearted about not being able to play with the amazing group of girls she has grown to know and love on a personal level.  “I wish I could go back in time and relive it all…” After high school, Danielle plans to go to the University of Lynchburg and play for their team.  She plans to study biomedical science or international relations.

Caroline Craine, Co-captain, said Senior night (being one of their last games together) is very surreal and that it’s an unimaginable moment for her. Caroline plans to attend the University of Lynchburg and study to be a forensic psychologist.

“It’s one of my favorites and I’m gonna miss all the girls” said Rileigh Weaver, tri-athlete in basketball, soccer, and field hockey, about Thursday’s game. Rileigh plans on going to a 4-year university and majoring in kinesiology to do physical therapy. She plans to continue playing sports in college.

“It’s always sad, but it’s exciting for them to move on to their future endeavors.” said Coach Nicole Kuykendall.  She is excited about the new group of girls coming up on the team.

Assistant Coach Melanie Haas said that she “loves seeing how much they’ve grown and what leaders they become.”  Coach Haas was very optimistic about the Seniors future and what they will go on to do in life.

The girls went on to win 11-0 against Norview.
