Take a STAND: A Student Activism Project
Are you passionate about a certain topic or issue? Do you wish to advocate for it in a creative way?
Menchville’s Lead4Change student service club is inviting students from all Newport News Public Schools to participate in their Take A STAND Student Activism Project. For this project, students may express their opinions and advocate for a specific topic of their choice by submitting paintings, performative dances, poems, short stories, or various other types of media submissions. Submissions will then be combined into a presentation that will be public from March 15 to March 30, and live voters may choose 3 winners, one each from elementary, middle, and high school. Winners will be announced on Friday, April 2.
Students may also submit a charity or organization of their choice along with their work, and money will be donated by Lead4Change to the organizations that were chosen by the three winners.
Submissions will be chosen from the following three categories:
Visual Art (drawing, painting, photography, etc.)
Writing (poetry, short story, essay, etc.)
Performance (music, dance, spoken word, video, etc.)
The submission deadline is February 28. Submissions may be uploaded to this Google Form.
