The Menchville archery team concluded their four-day weekend with a first place win at their Regional tournament on Monday, January 27. This is Menchville’s fourth year winning first place at the tournament. The team concluded the tournament with a final score of 3221 out of 3600, matching their team score from last year.

Menchville also swept the podium with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place scores in both the boys and girls categories. In the high school boys division, senior Felix Arsenault was awarded 1st place out of 21 archers with a score of 287 out of 300. Junior Dalton Westphal earned 2nd place with a score of 283- improving his 3rd place score of 281 from last year by two points- and senior Curtis Merkel won 3rd place with a finishing score of 269. In the high school girls division, junior Beth Ellis placed 1st out of 30 archers with a score of 274. Sophomore Kasey Twitchell improved her 3rd place win from last year with a 2nd place score of 271 this year, and senior Elisa Konop was awarded 3rd place with a score of 268.

The team will now prepare for their State tournament on March 14. Last year, the team concluded States with a score of 3266 and advanced to the National tournament. This year, after matching their Regional score from last year, the team hopes to improve that score and not only qualify for Nationals, but place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the state.
