Menchville Choral Department Spreads Holiday Cheer with their Winter Concert
It isn’t truly the Christmas season at Menchville until the Menchville Choral Department performs their annual winter Christmas concert. The concert took place on Thursday, December 5, at 7:00 pm.
The choir performed classic, well-known Christmas songs, such as I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and Santa Baby, as well as some less common Christmas songs like Candy Covered Gingerbread House and Text Me Merry Christmas. Solo performances were also sung by Junior Sophia Ottofaro, Sophomore Hailey James, and Senior Parker Bigley, and Chiara Tomassetti performed a duet on the piano with her mother. Each performance was beautiful, and the joyful Christmas songs put anyone listening in the holiday spirit. The music echoed off the walls of the auditorium, and the joy and support of students’ family and friends shown on their faces with each new performance. The chorus also put on a performance of the Hallelujah Chorus and welcomed Menchville Chorus Alumni, as well as Principal Bobby Surry and many Menchville teachers, to join them on stage in singing this beloved Christmas song.
The concert also included a surprise special appearance by Santa Clause, who read parts of ‘Twas the Night before Christmas to children in the audience.
