Three Monarch teams had games with a chance to go to states

Three Menchville teams- varsity girls’ field hockey and boys and girls cross country- entered Wednesday one win away from states.

The field hockey team, coming off a 10-0 win, played in the regional finals on Wednesday night against a rival that Menchville had already lost to early in the season, Warwick. The Monarch’s fought hard throughout the game, but Warwick remains undefeated against the Menchville field hockey team, sending the Monarchs home after winning 2-3.

The Menchville cross country teams both had their regional meets on Wednesday. In order to make it to states, you had to finish top three in your division. The girls team raced first, and led by senior Ari Riddick, made it to states, coming in third place out of nine teams. The boys team, on the other hand, finished fourth out of twelve teams, and will not be advancing to states as a team. Juniors BJ Diongzon and Chris Ware will be going to states through, as top five runners out of teams that don’t make it to states can go.

The regional tournaments are about to come to an end, with boys volleyball being the last team with a chance to go to states. The boys volleyball team plays Thursday night, against Warwick. Meanwhile, cross country states are a ways away, with states coming on Saturday, November 16th.
