Sports Seniors: Leah Riley
Committed to graduate the summer and attend George Mason University this fall, Menchville Senior Leah Riley shares her experiences with Menchville Swimming.
If you were not a swimmer, what do you think you would play or do?
If I weren’t a swimmer, I’d probably been seen out on the lacrosse field.
Why do you swim?
I swim because I’ve done it since I was so young, and I just never found myself wanting to try anything else.
Explain the best thing about your team this year.
Well for club swim, the best thing is how much of a family we are. For MHS swim, bonding with all of the new swimmers and even team captain is the best.
What are some of your other future plans?
I plan to swim Division I at George Mason University and become a biomedical engineer.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Honestly, meeting anyone famous in general would be pretty cool.
Who inspires you the most?
My teammates, definitely- they always push me to do better.
What do you believe is the best thing about Menchville?
Menchville has the best spirit, and the strive to succeed is unbeatable.
Name your favorite teacher here at Menchville.
Mr. Traner!
What’s one thing you do when you need to relax?
I go right to sleep.
What is a motivational quote or saying you live by?
“Accomplishments contain no limits, except the ones you bring upon yourself by your own thinking.” -Unknown
Name a book you really enjoyed reading?
I don’t really have one because I haven’t read many books other than the ones we’re forced to read for school. The Harry Potter series is, of course, amazing, though.
Where is one place you would love to visit?
I’d be fine with literally anywhere.
What song(s) is on your currently playlist?
Well, tons. It depends on which playlist, because I like a variety of music.
What are some of your other hobbies?
Socializing and hanging with friends, going to the beach, doing adventurous things, trying tons of new things.
What is your favorite food?
Overall, sushi, but food itself is my favorite, even stuff like potatoes and avocados.
Name your most favorite movie ever?
My all time favorite is Interstellar, but I also love basically any Marvel movie.
What is a tv show you just cannot miss?
Oh, definitely American Horror Story.
If you could be on any reality show, what do you think you would be good on?
I’d chill on any food network show…if I’m the one consuming the food.
What is something people should know about you or even anything else?
Just because something is hard now, that does not mean it is not worth it. Now is the only time we have to experience these things in life, so don’t take them for granted.
If you could make everyone listen to one thing what would it be?
Mr. Surry, on the morning announcements.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Oh yeah, I can clap with one hand.
Would you like to make a shout out to anyone?
Shoutout to my parents and coaches, as well. Without them, none of this would have happened in my life.
