Menchville Players Present New One-Act and SCENEchronize

Come see the Menchville Players in their newest one-act!

On February 22nd and 23rd, the Menchville drama department will be presenting SCENEchronize (a series of short dramatic skits) and “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” a one-act play. The night of performances will start at 7 pm. Admission is $5 at the door, with all proceeds going towards supporting the drama department and their preparations for the spring production of the Little Mermaid.

“The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” by Don Zolidis is a monstrous mashup of all sorts of Grimm fairy tales- from Rapunzel to Rumpelstiltskin- all rolled into one story told by the two narrators onstage. Additional cast members will be acting out the roles of princesses, paupers, and wicked villains as the tales are woven together. The one-act fairy tale will be performed by Menchville’s competitive drama students, who are enjoying the decidedly funny tale after a working with a serious one-act, “Fighting Demons,” last year. Said Senior Kelly Ritenour, “It’s nice that the advanced drama students are getting a chance to showcase their comedic acting skills.”

This is the second year that the Menchville Players will also be putting on SCENEchronize. Rather than the traditional format of a play or a one-act, SCENEchronize is a collection of short skits- with a catch. All skits have an assigned number, but no order. Instead, they are performed in the order that the audience chooses by calling out corresponding numbers. The random order of the skits keeps actors on their toes, but the Menchville drama students handle it like pros. The performance of SCENEchronize last year was a great success with the audience, and the Menchville Players will surely live up to the legacy with a new repertoire of skits and plenty of enthusiasm.

To see SCENEchronize and the debut of “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” come to the Menchville Drama Department performance on Friday the 22nd or Saturday the 23rd of February at 7 pm in the Menchville auditorium.
