December- Last Day Before Break

Laura Madler

How useful is the last day of school before break?

Well Monarchs, as three of us sit in the back room of the Creation Cave, the remaining staff can’t help but question how useful the last day before break is. Are these last four class periods a chance to start new work and cram in material before exams? Or is the day just a well-needed excuse to revel in baked goods, parties, and movies (instead of textbooks and quizzes)? We asked the writers who came in today what they think:

Kelly Ritenour, Clubs and Activities Editor– “I actually quite enjoy the last day before break because it has a really nice energy to it- everyone’s in the mood for Christmas. Today I’m having a Polar Express PJ party after school with all my theatre friends, so that’ll be super fun.”

Alondra Rivera-Pena, Arts and Entertainment Editor– “It is useful because we actually do work. I have a lot of work in my classes today.”

Personally, the last day before winter break is a weird day, and it can be hard to find the motivation to actually show up and do, well, school things. Nevertheless, the holiday just wouldn’t feel right without that one day when you can eat cinnamon rolls in class and see Santa hats in the hallway.

Monarchs, from all the staff here at the Lion’s Roar, have a fantastic last day and a great winter break. See you in 2019.
