Monarchs Lead 2 Feed Thousands

June 1, 2015

Menchville High School was recognized as a runner-up in this year’s Lead2Feed campaign. Menchville has been awarded the 2nd place prize of $10,000, which will be donated to the Peninsula Food Bank. Hundreds of schools all over the country partnered with the Lead2Feed program this year to help end the fight against hunger. Since the beginning of this school year, the students and staff of Menchville High School have participated in various activities such as canned food drives and serving in soup kitchens around Newport News. Menchville’s main goal was to make a impact and spread the word of how to help feed the people in the community.

So congratulations Monarchs, the hard work paid off. We not only provided service in our city and 5, 200 non-perishable items to the food bank, but with the ten thousand dollars received we are able to provide an additional 40,000 meals to the people in the community.
