Menchville Offense Frustrates Denbigh

Menchville Boys Varsity Basketball beats Denbigh on Tuesday night 53-41

Senior point guard Daryll Barbour led the Menchville Monarch Boys varsity basketball team on Tuesday night with an outstanding 20 pts. performance against the Denbigh Patriots to a well earned 53-41 win at Menchville High School.

The Monarch team showed no mercy throughout the entire game and outscored the Patriots 50-27 in the first part of the game. The frustration of the Patriots defense, caused by several excellent Menchville attacks, was clearly visible.

During the final three minutes of the game, Menchville Coach Moore switched out key players, like senior point guard Daryll Barbour, and senior center Dequon Lake, and the Patriots took advantage with a 14-3 run. Senior Kori Hawkins suffered an injury with 3:05 left in the game, and had to be carried off the court.

Never less it was still a well-earned win for the Monarchs team and the right response to the dramatic 62-61 loss last Friday against Deep Creek HS. The Menchville Monarchs are now 5-1, and can go far this season if they keep playing with the same power as they did in the first 29 minutes of the game. Whereas Denbigh is now 3-3 and needs to find some solutions for obvious defensive weaknesses against fast point guards like Daryll Barbour and Mike Jones.
