Sophomore Andre Smith will be returning to the stage to perform in Menchville Rocks again this year. Smith has been playing guitar for two and a half years, and performed in Menchville Rocks last year with “Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee” by Nuno Bettencourt, and “Desolate Motion” by Karawan, both on the electric guitar.

Smith enjoys performing because he “enjoys the feeling he gets when he plays in front of people,” with the crowd cheering him on and everyone having fun. Also, he enjoys having the opportunity to meet other new musicians and make new friends, so he is excited to be participating in Menchville Rocks again this year. His favorite genres to play are Rock and Metal, but he is beginning to play some jazz as well.

This year, Smith plans to play “Tender Surrender,” by Steve Vai, and “Surfing with the Alien,” by Joe Satriani. With only two weeks left until the show, he is halfway through learning one of his songs, which is a particularly difficult song to play. He is excited for his performance, though, and has been working hard to be more prepared than he was last year.

To see Andre Smith and his guitar back at Menchville Rocks, come out and support the show at 6:30 pm on February 28 in the Menchville Auditorium.
