Menchville Rocks 2018 – Anne Morgan and Maya
Anne Morgan Alligood and Maya Gorton will be making a return to the Menchville Rocks stage on February 22. Performing for their second year, the seniors will be bringing back their popular act, with Alligood on ukulele and both on vocals.
Alligood and Gorton have selected three songs to perform for the Menchville concert- “Angela” by the Lumineers, “Dear Hate” by Maren Morris, and “So Much More than This” by Grace VanderWaal. In the past, the duo have tried to stick to upbeat, happy songs to perform for the audience, but this year they think the song selections might resonate with concertgoers on a deeper level.
“I’m really excited about our choices, and I think they have more meaning this year…This second song [“Dear Hate”], the artist wrote it about a school shooting and then dedicated it to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. We picked it before the school shooting in Florida, but I feel like it has even more meaning now,” explained Alligood on the set this year. “I hope when people hear the music they feel empowered and inspired by the message.”
As their last Menchville Rocks performance approaches, Alligood says she is excited, but the nerves are always there. “I’m really nervous- and my fingers hurt,” she laughed.
