On Wednesday February 15, 2017, the Menchville High School Forensics Team went to Hampton High School and competed in the Conference 10 Forensics Tournament where sophomore, Emma Janney, was awarded second place in the Prose category.

In the Prose category, the speaker must choose a published piece to interpret in front of the judges. The piece Janney interpreted was from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Janney competed against students from Hampton and Bethel High School.  Janney thought “the competition was very stiff between the first place winner and me.”

The coach of the team, Government teacher Arram Dreyer says that “the team did fantastic” and “practiced very hard.” Dreyer also said that Janney “placed in a very difficult category.”

The Forensics Team will advance to Regionals on Saturday, February 25, 2017. If the team does well enough to place in the Prose category, they will continue onto States.
