Seniors Dominate the Faculty in Senior-Faculty Basketball Game

Despite a crushing loss to the Senior’s in the 2016 Faculty-Senior Basketball, Faculty Coach Pete Mercier was still upbeat Friday after the game. “It’s my favorite event of the year.” He was so upbeat, in fact, that on the mid-morning news show he attempted to mathematically showed students exactly how the score had changed over night – from the Thursday night final of 57-54 in favor of the students to a 54-53 score in favor of the faculty. Unfortunately, he was not able to convince students this was true.

The faculty team took a quick lead at the start of the game and held onto it until there were about four minutes left in the game. With Zollicoffer and Mercier on the bench, Seniors Aaron Floyd and Dermont Holmes put up about a hundred 3-point shots and, in a flash, those wiley Seniors moved ahead of the faculty.

But it was senior class President Kayla Paxton’s executive free throw that put the game entirely out of reach of a faculty comeback with a couple seconds left in the game.

According to student coach Mike Jones, “It was a good feeling getting the come-back victory.”
